Men's Tennis Concludes Season with Loss at WCC Championships to Gonzaga

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team concluded their 2008 season with 4-2 loss to Gonzaga in the third round consolation bracket of the WCC Championships. The day began with Gonzaga getting the first win at the No. 2 position in doubles. The Broncos Jay Wong and Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong answered the Bulldogs back with a win at the No. 1 spot over Stefan Feddersen and Zack Radetzky, 8-4. At the No. 3 spot, Charlie Burke and Senthil Chidambaram gave the Broncos the doubles point with a 9-8 win over Gonzaga's Logan Napolsky and Roman Dojack. In singles, the Bulldogs picked up two early points over the Broncos at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong responded with Santa Clara's second point of the day, to tie Gonzaga at two. Hirakawa-Wong defeated the Bulldogs Roman Dojack, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 2 position. The Broncos could not take the lead and fell at the No. 3 and No. 6 spots to give Gonzaga the win. With the loss, Santa Clara finished their season in eighth place in the West Coast Conference.
