Men's Tennis Falls in First Round at WCC Championships to No. 14 Pepperdine

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team fell in the first round of the WCC Championships to No. 14 Pepperdine, 4-0. The No. 8 seed Broncos faced the No. 1 seed Waves in the first match of the day.

The rules of the tournament designate that players do not continue to compete once a team reaches two points in doubles and a total of four points overall.

The day began with doubles, where Pepperdine earned the point after winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, and the match at the No. 3 position did not finish.

In singles, Senthil Chidambaram fell to the Waves Omar Altmann, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot, followed by losses at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions.

The matches at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 spots did not finish, in accordance with tournament rules.

Santa Clara will face Loyola Marymount, who dropped their match 4-0 to University of San Francisco, on Saturday April 19, at 9:00 a.m. in the Consolation Round.
