Jay Farwell begins his fifth year at the helm of the Santa Clara men's crew program. Farwell's ties to the Santa Clara crew program dates back to his father Jim who started the crew program at Santa Clara with classmates in 1965. His father then moved on to coach the program for 20 years. Farwell began his own ties with Santa Clara in 1992 when he began his first of two years of rowing for the Broncos. He would then become the varsity captain for the 1993 season. After graduating from Santa Clara with a Bachelor's degree in History, Farwell became the Broncos' men's novice coach in 1996. After a one-year stint as the novice coach he became the assistant varsity coach in 1997. Following the '97 season Farwell became the varsity skipper for the 1998 season and has remained in that position ever since. Farwell continued his education at Santa Clara, recently graduating from the Santa Clara Law School in 1999. |
